Thank Goodness the Packers Re-Signed John Kuhn

But in case they hadn't resigned him, I'm going to write a potential letter to Mike McCarthy that I would have written had the Packers not decided to resign him.

Dear Musty Mike McCarthy,

You have gone too far Mike. You have gone much too far. Sure, you can get rid of Daryn Colledge and Donald Lee but you really took it too far this time. John Kuhn is the heart and soul of this fricken team and if you hadn't resigned him I would have started the fire Mike McCarthy chant at Lambeau. Kuhn is everything I hope and pray for in a NFL player. He's selfless, tough, and plays hard on every single play. Getting rid of him means you are getting rid of everything you stand for. You just lost a fan, a very, very depressed fan.

John Kuhn going strong

John Kuhn is the fullback for the Green Bay Packers, but was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005 as an undrafted free agent.

Before joining the Steelers, John Kuhn was a Shippensburg University football player. At Shippensburg, he was definitely noticed by fans and coaches alike. Among others, Kuhn was selected to play in the 2005 Whataburger Cactus Bowl as a Division II all-star for the North team, as well as being named PSAC Western Division Offensive Player of the Year in 2003. John Kuhn also holds 27 school records and six PSAC records. These accomplishments definitely gave him a leg up when he decided to continue his football career into the NFL.

After being signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kuhn earned a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Steelers’ practice squad in Super Bowl XL. There were a few ups and downs to John Kuhn’s career in the first couple of years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Eventually, after being released by the Steelers, Kuhn was signed to the active roster of the Green Bay Packers.

Celebrity Sighting: John Kuhn

The city of York, Pennsylvania is where Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn lives year-round. Well, I have a friend who lives in the nearby Villa Green neighborhood. She was out getting coffee this summer in a local bistro, when out of the blue came John Kuhn in to buy a drink. He looked pretty much like this, minus the sweat and jersey.

She said he was wearing a blue polo, khaki shorts and flip flops. Fortunately, she is a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and even though he didn't see lots of playing time, she was familiar with his face from occasional TV shots and his Steelers bio online. I'm not sure how much recognition he receives out on the east coast, so she said he seemed pleasantly surprised when she told him she was a fan. She had to leave quickly, but it made her day to see him in person--and it made mine to hear all about it!

I reminded her that John Kuhn is single, and according to pictures he's pretty cute. She said he is...but that old engagement ring on her finger is a pretty big barrier to any romantic involvement!

Green Bay Packers fans are lucky to call John Kuhn one of our own and though we probably won't bump into him at a coffee shop, we can get as close to the sidelines as we want by picking up our Green Bay Packers tickets any time.
